Product Information

Applications

Dobel film laminated steel sheet is used where the requirements are high regarding aesthetic and robust surfaces.
Dobel 2005 is especially suitable for interior applications where fire classifications are required and a halogen-free alternative is preferred. Typical uses are marine interiors such as wall and ceiling panels for cabins, bathrooms and showers, furniture and doors. But also for office and shop fittings, apartment and house doors.

Product description

Dobel 2005 consists of a 130 µm thick HMP* film laminated onto metallized steel sheet. The base material in Dobel 2005 is hot-dip galvanized steel. The product is supplied with a removable
protective film. A very wide range of single colours and printed patterns are available. The reverse side has as standard a grey paint coating. Dobel 2005 is supplied as coils, cut-to-length sheets or as slit strip. European standard EN 10 169-1 for organic coated sheet is applicable for this product.
*HMP – Highly Modified Polyester

Resistance to chemicals

Dobel 2005 has a good resistance to chemicals. The product may be affected by strong alkalis and acids and organic solvents such as toluene, acetone and trichloroethylene.

Cleaning of surface coating

The surface should only be cleaned with water and mild detergents. Use a neutralised mild non-scratching detergent, free from ammonia and without bleach agents. Water-insoluble substances can normally be removed by using white spirit. After any cleaning operation the surface must be rinsed thoroughly with fresh water.

Storage and handling

Care should be taken to avoid damage to the coating during manufacture and installation. Scratches and handling damage that cause the coating to be removed can be treated by cleaning and touch-up painting. Storing of the material outdoors should be avoided. However, if such storage is not avoidable, the material should be satisfactorily covered and should be stored in such a manner that will ensure good air circulation, in order to avoid the accumulation of moisture.

Environment

SSAB Laminated Steel continues to commit significant resources in order to ensure that our processes are increasingly environmentally friendly. For further information about environmental properties of Dobel, see product sheet ”environmental specification for film laminated steel sheet”. The production of films and the lamination to the steel sheets are performed under controlled conditions.
More than 99% of the emission from our coil coating processes are recovered and incinerated. The resultant heat is recycled to the paint curing process. Film laminated steel can be recovered at the end of its life cycle and represents an important raw material in the production of new steel by remelting. In this melting process, the emissions caused by the metal and paint coats are removed. Film laminated steel should be collected as all other steel sheet, through the normal scrap recovery channels.
